New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Saturday has asked all the national and regional political parties to send their views and suggestions for conducting election campaigns and public meetings in the wake of the corona epidemic. July 31 is the last date for sending suggestions. Note that by-elections and Bihar assembly elections are proposed in some states this year.

The Election Commission in its letter has indicated the current situation of the Corona epidemic in the country. The commission said that the central and state governments have issued guidelines under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and certain other laws to ensure safety and prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. The Election Commission has asked political parties to send their opinions and suggestions by 31 July 2020. So that necessary guidelines can be prepared for campaigning by political parties and candidates in elections during the epidemic.

Earlier, various opposition political parties of Bihar asked the Election Commission on Friday to assure the voters that the upcoming assembly elections will not be a major means of spreading the epidemic. Along with this, he also urged to limit the number of voters at each polling station to 250 to ensure social distancing.
