Raigad: The encounter between Naxals and police break out in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh on late Thursday night, with hundreds of rounds of firing from both sides. In the encounter police killed two uniformed naxals. Police have also found some weapons from the site, which have been taken over by the police. Police have launched a search operation after the encounter. Police suspect there may be more naxalites hiding in the area.

According to the information received, 4 weapons have been recovered from the site to the police. That has been confirmed by Kanker, Sp. Giving details of the incident, Kanker SP informed that the police had received information about the Naxalite movement in and around the village of Murnar, which was under the Tadoki thana area of Kanker. After which the police started the campaign and piled up 2 naxals. Some naxalites were able to flee the site, which is being searched.

Let me tell you that the Naxalites had killed an informant of police in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh earlier. The police had confirmed the incident and said that Channu Sodhi (30) had gone to the Bastnar weekly Bazar under the Kodinar police station area of the district. After which the naxals had stabbed him with an axe when he saw Channu. That killed him on the spot.
