Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case with a raid conducted at the residence of BRS Leader K Kavitha in Hyderabad. This development comes in light of Ms. Kavitha's repeated non-compliance with summonses issued by the agency, raising suspicions regarding her involvement in the alleged irregularities surrounding the liquor policy.

As a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Telangana and the daughter of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, K Kavitha's connection to the case has attracted significant attention. Despite being questioned earlier in the investigation, Ms. Kavitha has reportedly evaded at least two summonses issued by the ED this year, deepening concerns over her role in the matter.

The case took a dramatic turn when Amit Arora, an accused in the money laundering aspect of the case linked to the scrapped Delhi liquor policy, implicated Ms. Kavitha during interrogation. According to ED officials, Arora alleged the existence of a well-organized liquor lobby known as the 'South Group,' which allegedly facilitated the transfer of ₹100 crore in kickbacks to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders through another accused, Vijay Nair.

Furthermore, investigators have claimed that the mastermind behind the 'South Group' is a business associate of Ms. Kavitha, suggesting a potentially deeper involvement of the BRS leader in the alleged racket. The ED's raid on her residence signals a significant escalation in the probe and underscores the urgency to uncover any illicit activities related to the Delhi liquor policy.

As the investigation unfolds, it raises broader questions about the nexus between politicians, business interests, and illicit activities in the liquor industry. The ED's efforts to unravel the truth behind these allegations demonstrate a commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in governance, while also serving as a warning to those involved in corrupt practices.
