FBI Director Christopher A. Wray is set to embark on a significant visit to India next week, centering discussions around critical issues such as the alleged assassination plot targeting Khalistani figure Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Khalistan terrorism, and broader concerns about terrorism sponsored by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. This visit is slated to occur between December 11-1 and will involve deliberations with Dinkar Sharma, the head of India's National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The focal points of the discussions during Wray's visit will encompass Khalistan terrorism, Pakistan-sponsored terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir, and the interconnected gangster nexus. Ambassador Eric Garcetti, speaking at a New Delhi event on India-US relations, confirmed Wray's imminent visit, highlighting its significance as the FBI Director's first trip to India since assuming office in 2017 and the first by any FBI Director in 12 years.

This diplomatic interaction follows the recent meeting between US Deputy National Security Adviser John Finer and his Indian counterpart Vikram Misri in New Delhi, specifically addressing the Pannun case. India has initiated a high-level probe into the US allegations of involvement by an Indian official, acknowledging the seriousness of the issue.

Preparations are underway at the NIA to delve into various aspects, including the investigations and evidence against designated 'individual terrorist' Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, known as the founder of the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). The agenda also encompasses discussions about Darmanjot Singh Kahlon, a US-based gangster accused of supplying weapons in a plot targeting Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, as well as Khalistan supporters allegedly involved in vandalizing the Indian Consulate in San Francisco back in March.

During his visit, Wray is anticipated to engage in discussions with senior officials from India’s central intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Home Affairs. This meeting signifies a unique occasion where, contrary to the usual interactions between NIA, intelligence agencies, and the FBI's legal attaché regarding specific cases and criminal activities, all evidence and cases will be comprehensively presented directly to the FBI Director for the first time.
