The ministry announced on Friday that India's annual FDI (foreign direct investment) inflow in 2021-22 was the "largest ever."
The inflow was USD 81.97 billion in 2020-21, according to the report. The ministry stated, "India is fast becoming as a favoured place for international investments in the industrial sector." "In the Financial Year 2021-22, India received the largest annual FDI inflow of USD 83.57 billion," it stated. In 2021-22, FDI equity inflows into manufacturing sectors surged by 76% (USD 21.34 billion) over 2020-21. (USD 12.09 billion).
Singapore topped the list of top investor countries with 27%, followed by the United States (18%) and Mauritius (16%) in the previous fiscal year. Computer software and hardware drew the most inflows of all sectors. The services sector and the motor industry were next, according to the ministry.
