Dehradun: A major earthquake crisis is looming in the country's state of Uttarakhand. In view of the crisis, scientists have issued a warning. According to the scientists of Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, a major activity is taking place in the lower part of the Earth about 45 km away from the new Kailash Mansarovar road connecting Dharchula in Uttarakhand to Lipulekh on the China border. Scientists have disclosed large quantities of micro and medium intensity earthquakes in the vicinity of Dharchula area and Kumaon Himalayan region. It has also discovered geological tension and structure in the locality.

According to the report received, scientists say seismic activities have been recorded due to geological stress in the area. There is an apprehension that there is also an apprehension of high-intensity earthquakes in the area in future. Scientist Devjit Hazarika, who led the team of research scientists, has given more information. He said, "In addition to the Kangra earthquake in 1905 and the Bihar-Nepal earthquake in 1934, there have been no earthquakes of more than 8 magnitudes in the last 500 years in this area. Therefore, this area is known as the Central Seismic Gap (CSG) area or gap. '

"Gap is a term used to represent a locality with little tectonic activity," says Hazarika. However, Kumaon central Himalayas belong to this CSG area. It is one of the most seismically active areas of the Himalayan belt, which has seen very moderate and intense earthquakes in recent times.
