Football's global body FIFA has allowed Cameroon to include former French under-21 player Georges-Kevin Encoudou in its national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup. FIFA has also allowed this player to change in terms of international representation.
Encoudou will be seen representing Marseille and Tottenham before joining his current club Besiktas. He has never represented the French senior team and, due to his family ties and FIFA rules, he can now represent Cameroon. An application has also been made to the Cameroonian Football Association to include this 27-year-old player in their national team. It was also supported by former national team great Samuel Ito.
Nkoudou was named last week in coach Rigobert Song's preliminary squad for the qualifying matches of the 2023 'Africa Cup of Nations' in June. The team also includes former Celtic midfielder Olivier Entcham, who has come from France to Cameroon. Teams of Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland have also joined Cameroon's group in the World Cup starting in November this year in Qatar.
