New Delhi: The budget of the Modi government 2.0 was presented on Friday. This was introduced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha. Prime Minister Modi has termed the budget as a prosperous nation. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also mentioned the Dedicated Freight Corridor in her Budget speech. She said "the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will help Indian Railways to reduce overcrowding on the rail route. It will also benefit the common citizen."

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget speech in Parliament described connectivity as the life of the economy. She said, "the central government is encouraging connectivity in all its ways."

It may be mentioned that two Dedicated Freight Corridors are being constructed in the country on behalf of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation India Limited (DFCCCIL). These include both the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor. Both are proposed to be completed by 2021.

The trial run was completed on December 30, 2018, at Madar (Ajmer)-New Rewari-Kishangarh Balavas section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC). The section is 306 km. On August 15, 2018, the first double-tank container freight train was successfully tested in the section between Ateli and Fulera. The Madar-Palanpur section is scheduled to be constructed by March 31, 2020. The construction of the JNPT (Mumbai) section from Palanpur is scheduled to be completed by 2021.
