Case filed against 91 villagers for killing a female leopard and cub

Bahraich: 2 leopards were beaten to death by villagers in 2 different areas of Katarnia Ghat (Wildlife Vihar) forest area of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Uttar Pradesh. Both incidents have come out from Murtiha and Sujuli police station area respectively. Video of leopard killing in Murtiha police station area is going  viral on social media.

The forest department has taken the matter seriously. Police has registered an FIR named under Wildlife Protection Act on 6 people from both villages, while a case has been registered against 85 unidentified villagers. According to the police, the incident took place on 23 April. Five accused have been arrested. According to the police, on the morning of April 23, the leopards were beaten to death by villagers with sticks and sticks in two different villages of Sujauli and Murtiha police station area adjacent to the Katarnia Ghat (Wildlife Vihar) forest in DTR. According to the forest department, a female leopard and a cub were killed in the villagers.

The forest department has registered 13 cases against 13 people in Bhansa Budan Majra of Dhania Bailey and 13 in Kakraha village, and have registered cases in the concerned police stations Sujuli and Murtiha.
