Mumbai: A fire broke out at a Covid hospital in Virar in Palghar district of Maharashtra this morning. A massive fire broke out in the ICU of Vijay Vallabh Hospital in Virar West under Milli Jankari. On the other hand, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation said, "13 patients died in the accident. According to reports, 17 covid patients were undergoing treatment here. Meanwhile, the patients injured in the incident have been shifted to another nearby hospital.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the four-storey hospital and 10 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and brought the fire under control. No official information has been received so far about the cause of the accident but sources have informed that the incident was caused by a short circuit. However, this incident cannot be termed as the first incident. Earlier, 24 patients died due to an oxygen leak at a hospital in Nashik in Maharashtra.

During that time, there was a leakage of oxygen due to some technical reasons and the patients kept on ventilator bed died due to stoppage of supply. During the incident, about 150 patients were undergoing treatment on ventilator beds in oxygen beds. The family members, shocked after the death of their loved ones, have accused the civic authorities of negligence. On the other hand, NMC Municipal Commissioner Kailash Jadhav has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
