For the first time, scientists have found evidence of the presence of 'sugar molecule' in meteorites. In the beginning of life on earth, 'sugar molecule' is considered to be important. This discovery has strengthened the role of meteorites in life on Earth. The study, published in the PNAS journal, states that sugar is important for the biological process.

According to media reports, some very complex organic molecules may have been formed only after the arrival of sugar molecules on the earth. Other researchers, including Yoshihiro Furkawa of Tohoku University in Japan, analyzed three non-metallic and carbon-rich meteorites. One of these is the Marchison meteorite, which fell in Australia in 1969.

In these meteorites, the study found a sugar molecule in the form of ribose. Ribose is specifically the basic component of our ribonucleic acid (RNA). The researchers pointed out that the important thing is that the ribos found in meteorites were formed in space. He also performed a computer simulation in the laboratory of the possible manufacturing process of this sugar molecule in space.
