New Delhi: On Monday, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi slammed the Congress for questioning the authenticity of the Indian air strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) suggesting that it was not "coincidence" that as the Indian forces are cracking down on terrorists, "Congress and its supporters" have been left "screaming".  Attacking the grand old party, Naqvi said that it has now been reduced to a "Flop show of PVR (Priyanka, Vadra, Rahul)".

"While the security forces are cracking down on terrorists and their sponsors; the Congress and its supporters are left “screaming”. Is it a “Coincidence” or “Jugalbandi”????," Naqvi was quoted by ANI as saying. He further said stressed that it was the terrorists who were hit in the strike asking why the Congress was screaming. "Ek taraf Pakistan sawaal puuch raha hai, dusri taraf Congress saboot maang rahi hai. Ye Congress aur Pakistan ki jo jugalbandi hai vo ajeeb baat hai," Naqvi said.

Naqvi's comments have come in the wake of several Congress leaders, including Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil Sibal, demanding proof of casualties in the air strikes. While Sidhu asked if the strike "was to uproot terrorists or trees", Sibal quoted International media saying that "there was no proof of terrorists' death in the Balakot air strikes.

Earlier in the day, Union Ministers Hardeep Puri and Prakash Javadekar also slammed the Opposition for questioning air strikes. Hinting towards these comments being used by the Pakistani media to downplay the air strikes, Javadekar said that "their statements are being welcomed by Pakistan."

However, India carried out air strikes in several areas across the LoC including the Balakot area in a "non-military pre-emptive" strike on February 26 targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed's (JeM's) training camps. While the government or any defence official has not revealed the exact number of JeM terrorists eliminated in the air strike, BJP president Amit Shah on Sunday claimed that more than 250 terrorists were killed in the strikes.
