Raipur: Farmers of Chhattisgarh will be given a subsidy of Rs. 10,000 per acre for cultivation of paddy as well as some crops identified by the government during kharif session 2021-22. An official said this on Thursday. The decision was taken at a meeting led by state CM Bhupesh Baghel here on Wednesday to encourage cultivation of crops other than paddy in Chhattisgarh. Due to the widespread cultivation of rice in Chhattisgarh, the state is called the 'rice bowl' of central India.
An official of the Public Relations Department has informed that CM Baghel has decided to expand the scope of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana and include paddy along with all major Kharif crops like maize, soyabean, sugarcane, kodo-kutki, pulses from next session. 9,000 per acre for paddy cultivation in kharif season 2020-21 and on all major Kharif crops including paddy from next session.
In the Kharif session of 2019-20, the State Government provided financial assistance of Rs.10,000 per acre to the farmers for paddy cultivation. He said, "In 2020-21, if paddy farmers cultivate other nutritionally enhanced varieties of kodo-kutki, sugarcane, maize, soyabean, pulses, oilseeds, aromatic paddy, paddy or plant trees in place of paddy in the same land, they will be given a subsidy of Rs.10,000 per acre instead of Rs.9,000 per acre."
