Unaware of His Son's Death, CCD Founder's Father Passes Away After Staying in Coma for Over a Month

Bangalore: Days after the founder of Cafe Coffee Day VG Siddhartha passed away, his 96-year-old father, Gangaiah Hegde, breathed his last on Sunday. He had been admitted to Gopalagowda hospital in Mysuru about a month ago after suffering from old-age-related health issues. At the age of 96, he breathed his last. Being in a coma, he could not get the news of the death of his only son Siddhartha. After VG Siddharth left the world, the family had said that he had visited the father in the hospital a few days before his death and was emotional when he saw his condition in old age.

The body was found about 36 hours after CCD owner VG Siddharth went missing. He allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the river. Siddharth had left the house on July 29 after informing him of his visit to Sacleashpur, but asked his driver to take the train to Mengaluru. There is Siddhartha's coffee estate in Sacleashpur. Siddhartha got off the train on the Ullal bridge on the river Netravati and asked the driver to wait till he returned.

The driver did not return for long, but he could not find him, after which he reported his disappearance. Two days before he lost his life, Siddharth (60) revealed in a letter addressing his personnel that he was in debt. Siddharth's body was found on July 31 near the bridge of the river Netravati. Meanwhile, police probed the forensic report and termed Siddhartha's death as suicide. According to police sources, water has been found in Siddhartha's lungs and his death has been caused by drowning. Mengaluru Police Commissioner P. S.K. Singh. Harsh said, "We have received the FSL report. The investigation confirms suicide.
