Lucknow: Former Union Minister and veteran leader of Uttar Pradesh Salim Sherwani has joined the Samajwadi Party. Salim Sherwani joined the SP on Tuesday in the presence of SP National President Akhilesh Yadav. Besides Salim Sherwani, former BSP MP Tribhuvan Dutt and BJP MLA Ajit Pal's brother Inderpal from Sinkadar also joined the SP.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pal was in the Progressive Samajwadi Party of Akhilesh Yadav's uncle Shivpal Yadav. Shivpal Yadav had fielded him for the Lok Sabha elections from Akbarpur parliamentary seat. At the same time, when talking about Salim Sherwani, he has a long experience in the politics of UP. He has been from MP to minister at the center. The 2019 Lok Sabha election was fought by Salim Sherwani on the Congress ticket from Badaun parliamentary seat. Salim Sherwani also spoiled the equation of SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav here. Dharmendra Yadav had to lose his seat.

On this occasion, Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Salim Sherwani and other leaders to the party. Along with this, he targeted the Yogi government over handling Corona. Akhilesh Yadav said that the government has stopped the epidemic by reducing the corona test.
