Guwahati: The final list of NRC was released on August 31 in Assam. About 19 lakhs did not find a place on this list. It also has well-known faces of many societies. There is tension among the common people regarding this list. At the same time, organizations seeking NRC are also not satisfied with this. Meanwhile, former Assam CM and state Congress leader Tarun Gogoi questioned the 19.07 lakh people excluded from the final list to go to the foreign tribunal to get their names included.

He asked the Amas government how they were asked to go to the foreign tribunal to get their names included from the final list of the National Register of Citizens when they have not been declared as foreigners. He also said that the government will provide legal aid to the Indian nationals who were left in the administration list. Former CM Gogoi appealed to establish competent authority headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court in place of the Foreign Tribunal to hear the cases of those excluded from NRC. However, the Ministry of External Affairs has made it clear that those whose names are not in the list are not stateless. They will not be forced out of the country.
