It is impossible for any Friends fan to imagine any of the characters being played by someone else, especially the quirky character of Phoebe Buffay who was played by Lisa Kudrow. However, in a recent interview, the actress opened up about how it wasn't an easy task for her to bag Buffay's role and that she even had to do an extra audition for the same.

Kudrow starred in the show for all ten seasons and was perfect for the character, had to show it to the director Jim Burrows that she is indeed perfect and can do justice to the character, however, the reason was mainly that she was removed from his previous show. Commenting about Burrows' thoughts on her starring as Phoebe, she said, "I knew that Jim clocked that I was wrong from the table read and so I thought, ‘Oh he doesn’t like me or what I do.'"

Furthermore, she later found out that she was asked to do a special audition for Jim, whereas the rest of the cast members did not.  She said, "I thought maybe everyone had to do it, but I found out a few years ago that I was the only one. Just to make sure that it was all OK with Jimmy that I played Phoebe."

The Friends famous star did admit that both Burrow and she ended up earning each other’s trust. Her role in the sitcom Friends landed her six Emmy nominations for playing Phoebe Buffay and she also bagged the supporting actress in a comedy series Emmy for her role as Phoebe in the show's fourth season.
