Nitin Gadkari, a minister for the Union, has asked Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, in a letter, to take into consideration moving the proposed 2x660 MW thermal power project from Koradi in Nagpur to another area.

The NGO "Vidarbha Connect" claimed the power plant might be built at Parshivni (Parseoni) in the Nagpur district in a letter to Gadkari dated May 14. Gadkari highlighted a letter and concerns voiced by the NGO in support of his plea for the proposed 2x660 MW thermal power plant at Koradi, Nagpur, to be considered, cancelled, and moved to a another area due to health risks.

According to the NGO's submission, Mahagenco intends to build a new thermal power facility in Koradi with a capacity of 1,320 MW, according to the Union minister. The Koradi thermal power station now has a 2,600 MW capacity and is located within the boundaries of the Nagpur metro region. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said, using the NGO's submission, that the units at Koradi are aggravating the health issues of the neighborhood's people. 

The scheduled MPCB (Maharashtra Pollution Control Board) environmental public hearing on May 29, 2023 has been contested by the NGO. According to Gadkari, the NGO has noted that the proposed power plant can be erected at Parshivni because the power generation capacity at Koradi and Khaparkheda has peaked. 

According to him, citing the NGO's representation, this might assist create jobs in the Parshivni tehsil and aid in finding a solution to the pollution issue in Koradi. Gadkari wrote in the letter, "I would like to suggest that your good self evaluate the concerns highlighted in the self-explanatory representation and adopt a judgement in accordance with the guidelines, appropriate verification, and the position of the state government in the matter.
