INDORE: The Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday, August 1, laid the foundation stone for five road projects, valued Rs. 2,300 crore, in Madhya Pradesh, which will help strengthen the state's connectivity neighboring Maharashtra and south India.
The minister laid the foundation for these projects using a remote control at a function organised in Indore. Officials claim that one of the projects involves building 119 km of roads on the state's national highways, which will create jobs and draw in investment.
According to the project's specifications, a four-lane road from Tejaji Nagar in Indore to Balwara (Indore-Burhanpur portion), a four-lane road from Indore to Raghogarh (Indore-Harda part), and a six-lane flyover at Rau Circle in Indore would all be built.
The union minister also laid the foundation for the reconstruction of a service road at Rau Circle and for strengthening the existing road between Tejaji Nagar and Balwara in Indore, they said.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, and Gopal Bhargava, the state's minister of public works, were also present at the function.
Gadkari will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the road project at BCC. He will also attend a programme organised by Jan Aakrosh Sanstha at Ravindra Natyagriha at 3 pm. At 4 pm, he will visit Shri Nana Maharaj Taranekar Sansthan located behind Snehlataganj Ganesh Mandal. He will also attend the Shri Nana MaharajTarnekar function organised at the Basketball Complex at 5 pm. Gadkari will depart for Delhi at 7 pm.
