New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chief Sourav Ganguly has refused to comment on Indian cricket team Test captain Virat Kohli's press conference. Ganguly said BCCI will deal with the matter properly and the matter should be left on board. Rohit Sharma was also declared captain of the ODI team on the same day as the Indian Test team announced for the tour of South Africa, after which there has been a constant controversy over captaincy.

According to media reports, Ganguly has said, "I will not comment on this issue, we will deal with the matter correctly, leave it to the BCCI. Before the T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli had announced that he would continue to captain the Indian Test and ODI team, but would quit the T20 team after the tournament. Since then, there have been reports that Virat could also be stripped of ODI captaincy. Rohit has been declared as the new ODI captain of Team India with the announcement of the Test team for the South African tour.

Sourav Ganguly then clarified that the selectors and BCCI had spoken to Virat Kohli about Rohit being made the ODI captain. Ganguly had also said that Virat was asked not to give up the T20 captaincy. Ganguly said that this is the reason why selectors do not want two different captains to lead white ball cricket.
