Lucknow: Sudevi Dasi has been selected for the Swami Brahmananda Award for doing exemplary work in the field of Gausseva (serving cow). Sudevi Dasi originally hails from the city of Berlin, Germany and her real name is Friedrich Irina Bruning. She has been serving cow for the last 25 years. Presently, she is serving thousands of cows living in Mathura. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri, the country's fourth best civilian award, last year by the Government of India.

The Swami Brahmanand Award is being instituted in the name of former MP Swami Brahmananda this year from his 125th birth anniversary. This will be provided every year to Indian and non-Indian citizens doing specific work in the field of cow-service and education. In this way, the first Swami Brahmanand Award is being given to Sudevi Dasi. Under this award, 10 thousand rupees, Bronze medal, Statue, Sanad and Angavastra will be provided.

Let us tell you that Frederick Irina Bruning was born on 02 March 1958 in Berlin, Germany. Came to India in the year 1978 for the purpose of tourism and then stayed here. Frederick has been assimilating Indian culture by living here for the last 41 years and has been fully devoted to the care and service of cows that have been relentless for the last 25 years. For such inspiring work, people call her 'mother of calves' and she is known as 'Sudevi Dasi' or 'Sudevi Mata' all over India including Braj.
