New Delhi: A fire broke out at a chemical factory in Bulandshahr Road industrial area in Ghaziabad adjoining Delhi on Wednesday morning. Soon the fire became so severe that part of the city was completely covered with smoke. A team of Kavinagar Kotwali police and fire brigade who reached the spot after receiving information has started trying to douse the fire with the help of ten fire tenders.

The incident took place at 8.30 a.m., but the fire could not be controlled till 9.30 a.m. As per the information received from the fire brigade, chemicals were kept in drums inside the factory. The drums started flying and bursting as the fire broke out in these drums. Due to this, the fire engulfed the entire factory within minutes. A luxury car parked about 50 metres away was burnt to ashes when some drums flew out of the factory.

Two neighbouring factories also caught fire. Chief Fire Officer Sunil Kumar Singh said that no loss of life has been reported so far but property worth lakhs of rupees has been damaged. The fire team is trying to control the fire.
