GHMC launched a sanitation drive in 235 colonies

Continuing the ongoing special sanitation drive, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is now carrying out an intensive sanitation and pesticide drive focused on 235 rain-affected colonies in the city. As part of a special sanitation drive, the Municipal Corporation has spent about Rs 5.51 crore till date and is preparing to spend an additional Rs 5 crore to Rs 6 crore in the next 10 days.

To this end, a special sanitation officer has been appointed to record complaints or requests of citizens to clear the garbage in a separate area for each circle. The Municipal Corporation has launched a special sanitation drive after the instructions of The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T.Rama Rao to normalise the rain affected areas. GHAGMC and 242 vehicles have taken additional 495 vehicles and required manpower.

Currently, 737 vehicles, including 177 Earth Movers, 26 Bobcats, 258 Tippers, 96 Six Tonnes, 126 Ten Tonnes and 44 Tractors, are operating around the clock, pushing 334 pumps into service to carry out de-dissolving and desilting operations. 1008 Monsoon Emergency Teams staff, along with 1,522 men were appointed separately for a special sanitation drive.
