New Delhi: The Centre has asked state governments and Union Territories to give priority to the vaccination of destitute people who do not have registration facilities and lack resources for it. The Centre's new order reminds us of the Union Health Ministry's notification on May 6. In that advice, the Centre has decided to set up states/UTs. The Union Territories were asked to do corona vaccination of groups of beggars, nomads and people living in rehabilitation camps.
The Health Ministry had also shared SOP regarding vaccination of people who do not have prescribed Identity Cards. The Centre has urged states/UTs to work together to facilitate vaccination of destitute beggars through their respective Social Justice and Empowerment and Health Departments. It has been said that state governments should be encouraged to take the help of NGOs/CSO and public-spirited citizens in this effort. India has so far given a total of 46,15,18,479 vaccine supplements to the Central and State Governments.
As per the data released by the Ministry of Health, more than 48.78 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/UTs. According to the Ministry, the Central Government is committed to accelerate the pace of COVID-19 vaccination across the country and expand its scope.
