Global Investors Summit garners 6 lakh plus jobs: Andhra CM

Vishakhapatnam: During the two-day Global Investors Summit (GIS), Andhra Pradesh received investment pledges of Rs 13.05 lakh crore, which help brings the potential to generate over six lakh jobs, said the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Addressing at the valedictory ceremony, the minister said 352 agreements were signed in 20 sectors, out of which the energy sector stood out through 40 deals and pledges worth Rs 8.84 lakh crore with a employment creation potential of 1.9 lakh.

"In the IT & ITES industry, 56 Memorandum of Understandings (MoU)  were signed, totaling investments of Rs 25,587 crore and creating jobs for 1,04,442 persons. 117 agreements have been signed in the tourist sector for an investment of Rs 22,096 crore, which will employ 30,787 people, Reddy said.

In addition, he noted that the renewable energy industry was one of those that attracted sizeable investments, noting that these investments would significantly advance the development of renewable energy generation, pumped storage, and the manufacture of green hydrogen and green ammonia. These developments would strengthen India's resolve to achieve net zero emissions, he said.

On the final day of GIS, the Chief Minister essentially inaugurated 14 businesses that had invested Rs 3,841 crore and planned to create 9,108 employment. Kimberly Clark, Bluestar, NGC Transmission, Laurus Labs, and Win-Win Labs were a few of these businesses. Reddy claims that the summit featured 100 speakers in parallel sessions covering 15 different industries, showing the advantages of the southern state.

The minister said the investments have prompted the State government to multiple its efforts, including being more conducive and welcoming.
