Gold hidden by traveller in rectum seized at Hyderabad's Airport

HYDERABAD: Customs authorities at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport found 1.19 kg of gold hidden in a passenger's rectum on Monday. Flight 6E-25 brought the male passenger from Dubai to Hyderabad.

Officials claim that the passengers concealed the gold in paste form inside his rectum. The gold was recovered and seized, weighing 1.19 kg and valued at Rs 59.23 lakh. A gold smuggling charge has been filed against the passenger.  This is the latest in a string of gold smuggling incidents that have been discovered at Hyderabad Airport this month. Passengers had smuggled gold from Dubai into all of the cases. This is the second case of travellers concealing illicit gold in their rectum this month.

Customs authorities found 7.3 kilogramme gold worth Rs 3.6 crore from four Sudanese who had hidden it in their rectum on December 10. The passengers, two of whom were ladies, had flown in from Dubai.
