Coronavirus cases are continuously increasing in India even after very effective efforts. In such a situation, the government said on Wednesday that the ban on the export of alcohol-based sanitizers will remain in force. This type of sanitizer is capable of dealing with the coronavirus. However, now non-alcohol based sanitizers can be exported.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has amended its notification of 24 March regarding this matter. Export of all types of sanitizers was prohibited under this notification. After the amendment in the notification, now the export of alcohol-based sanitizers will be banned. It is noteworthy that due to the Coronavirus epidemic, there was a shortage of hand sanitizer and face masks in the country. According to an estimate, India exported $ 485 million (about Rs 3,688 crore) sanitizer in the year 2018-19. From April 2019 to January 2020, sanitizers worth $ 419 billion (about Rs. 31,867 billion) have been exported.

The number of coronaviruses infected in India has reached beyond 50 thousand. On Wednesday, where a record 1,233 new cases were found in Maharashtra, 771 were also found infected in Tamil Nadu. In both these states, more than one-third of the country is infected.
