New Delhi: Protests have been taking place in several states of the country demanding women protection after the incidents of Hyderabad rape and murder case and now in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. The largest number of street protesters are women, who are pleading with the government to provide security to themselves.

In view of all this, the Central Government has taken an important decision. Now women help desks will be set up in all police stations across the country. Late Thursday evening, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the allocation of 100 crores from the Nirbhaya Fund. As per the plan, women police personnel will be compulsorily deployed at the women's help desk. Policemen will be given proper training for how to treat women coming to the police station with their problems in a sensitive manner.

This help desk will enlist a panel of lawyers, psychologists, NGOs and experts to facilitate legal aid, counseling, shelter, rehabilitation and training etc. All these will be used to help the suffering women. Let us tell you that this scheme will be applicable in all the states and union territories.
