In February 2020, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar. An important decision was taken in this meeting. According to this decision, it was proposed to give maternity expenses of Rs 7500 to pregnant women under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). It is being told that preparations are being made to finalize the proposal soon. The Ministry of Labor and Employment has issued a draft notification in this regard.

Stakeholders have been asked to give their advice within 30 days. After this, the government will be able to take the final decision. Under the Health Insurance Scheme of the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) of the government, it is proposed to increase maternity expenses to Rs 7,500. Right now this amount is 5,000 rupees. That is an increase of Rs 2500 is proposed.

According to the health insurance scheme of ESIC, maternity expenses have been paid for the insured female employee or the wife of the insured male employee. This maternity expense is paid to the beneficiary women who avail maternity services in other hospitals due to the ESIC network not having access to hospitals or drug centers. They provide maternity support for only two children. However, after the decision of the government at this time, pregnant women have already been told about getting additional 2500 rupees.
