New Delhi: The Centre's Modi government is considering to initiate the process of submitting applications for haj in 2021. No devotees from India could go to Saudi Arabia on Haj pilgrimage this year due to corona virus pandemic. Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "We are considering to initiate the process including submission of applications for Haj 2021 from October-November. We will wait for saudi Arabia's guidelines and hope to have a pilgrimage".

Earlier, mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had said that "We have decided that devotees from India will not be sent to Saudi Arabia on Haj pilgrimage this year. So far, more than 2, 30000 Indian Muslims have applied for Haj pilgrimage. All money will be refunded through online money transfer without any deduction".

On an average, two lakh people from India go to Saudi Arabia for Haj every year. This year, Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim population, had imposed a ban on its citizens going on Haj pilgrimage. Every year, 20000 people from Indonesia go to Saudi Arabia for Haj.
