Greater Noida: Over 6 dozen villages hit by rain, NDRF mobilized for rescue

The threat of Delhi's floods has now reached Noida-Greater Noida. Eight lakh cusecs of water have been released from the Hathni Kund barrage. Even before the water reaches Noida-Greater Noida, there has been a new disaster on people in coastal villages. In fact, the water already stored at the Okhla barrage had to be released after the water was released from the Hatinikund barrage. The families of about 20 vegetable farmers in Tilwara village of Greater Noida were trapped on the other side of the Yamuna, including cattle, due to the release of water from Okhla barrage.

According to information, 77 villages in Noida and Greater Noida are in the grip of water. Villages falling in Greater Noida are most affected by Tilwara, Gharbra and Motipur water. About 20 families of Tilwara village were stranded at the other end of the river due to the sudden rise of water. Administrative officials and local legislators have also rushed to the affected area to help, though the NDRF team is engaged in the work due to high water level. All the stranded people have also been evacuated.

According to received media reports, the NDRF team has rescued 5 women, 2 children and 3 men. NDRF team commander Vipin Pratap said that some people have already taken their cattle from there and made something safe on the Haryana side.
