Vimal, a young man in Rajkot, Gujarat, has undergone black fungus surgery six times in the last 5 months but is yet to get rid of the disease. He is now preparing for his 7th surgery.
In addition to 6 surgeries, 39 injections have also been administered: Vimal's wife Chandni said Vimal lived in Ahmedabad, where he had covided in November. Vimal was given oxygen and steroids during the treatment of covid. Vimal was surrounded by black fungus after Covid won the battle. Vimal was first found to have fungus in his nose, which underwent surgery. This was followed by surgery in and around the eye, ear. Now that the fungus infection has reached the brain, the brain has to undergo neurosurgery. Chandni said that so far 39 injections given to Vimal against black fungus have also been administered.
Sold home for treatment: Wife Chandni said that Vimal's treatment lost most of the house's deposits. They even had to sell their house. About Rs 41 lakh has been spent so far in the treatment and about Rs 10 to 15 lakh is still required.
