Ahmedabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the names of candidates for 166 assembly seats in Gujarat. After the announcement by the BJP, one sitting and 4 former MLAs have started showing a rebel attitude after not getting tickets. These BJP leaders have threatened to contest as independents. However, some of these leaders have said that they will take their next step after consulting supporters.

Former BJP MLA and party's well-known tribal leader Harshad Vasava on Friday filed his nomination as an Independent from the Nandod seat reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. Vasava also heads the Scheduled Tribe Morcha unit of the Gujarat BJP. He was elected MLA from the then Rajpipla seat from 2002 to 2012. The Nandod seat in the Narmada district, from where Harshad Vasava has filed his nomination, is currently held by Congress. The BJP has given a ticket to Dr Darshana Deshmukh from this seat. Unhappy with the BJP candidate, Vasava resigned from his post and filed his nomination.

Let us know that 182 seats of Gujarat Vidhan Sabha will be voted in 2 phases. Voting will be held in the first phase on December 1 and in the second phase on December 5. At the same time, the election results will be announced on December 8. Vasava said that there is a real and fake BJP here. We will expose those who have marginalized the dedicated workers of the party and given new positions to new ones. I have sent my resignation to the party. People here know how much I have done as an MLA.
