Ahmedabad: One person died and 4 people are missing after a fire broke out in a chemical storage terminal in Kandla, Gujarat, which is feared to be dead. This incident is being reported on Monday when a group of laborers were engaged in the welding work of the storage tank. The tank was filled with 2,000 metric tons of methanol, which caught fire.

IMC terminal officials have said that currently, the fire extinguishing work is going on by DPT Fire Brigade Section, IMC team and other associated terminals. Officials also said that the cooling of nearby tanks is also being done to ensure that the fire does not spread much. In the year 2002, a similar type of accident took place at the Saffron terminal and it took 3 days to control it and the entire Kandla complex was evacuated at that time.
