The multitalented Prakash Jha, who belongs to a middle family, was born on 27 February 1952 in Champaran Bihar. Prakash Jha did his studies in Kendriya Vidyalaya no. Of Bokaro city. She was from Sainik School in Tilaiya in Koderma district. After this, he completed his graduation from Ramjas College, Delhi University. But at that time his interest started moving towards painting. After this, he decided to go to Mumbai and become a painter. Due to this, in the year 1973, he joined the Film and Television Institute.

Prakash Jha married Bollywood actress Deepti Naval in the year 1985. A few years later, he adopted a daughter, named Disha. His relationship with Deepti deteriorated after a few years and due to this, both of them got divorced in 2005.

With this, in the year 1984, he made his directorial debut in Hindi cinema with the film Hip Hip Hurray. Prakash's first film was awarded the National Award. In 2010, he produced the film Rajneeti, which proved to be quite a hit. In this film, Ajay Devgn, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Vajpayee, Ranbir Kapoor appeared in the lead roles. After this he made the film Aakarshan in which Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar played the lead roles. Although that film did not prove to be such a hit.
