Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will visit Bangladesh for two days starting Tuesday, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The visit, according to the sources, will provide an opportunity to evaluate the wide-ranging bilateral cooperation and assist in the preparation for President Ram Nath Kovind's planned visit to that country.

Shringla will meet with Ambassador Masud Bin Momen of Bangladesh and will pay visits to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen. According to the MEA, he would also meet with Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

"The Foreign Secretary's travel to Bangladesh, which will take place a day after the Maitri Diwas festivities, will provide an opportunity to assess the two countries' extensive collaboration," the statement stated. On December 6, 'Maitri Diwas' was commemorated to commemorate India's recognition of Bangladesh in 1971. President Ram Nath Kovind will undertake a state visit to Bangladesh from December 15 to 17, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. He will attend Bangladesh's 50th victory day celebrations.

Bangladesh will celebrate its 50th anniversary of independence in 2021, as well as the centennial of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth.
