New Delhi: Testing kits ordered from China for testing of coronavirus epidemic turned out to be substandard. After this, India has started work on manufacturing testing kits on its own. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan held a review meeting on this issue on Tuesday. Dr Harshvardhan said that soon we will prepare a testing kit at our place, after which one lakh tests can be done in a day.

Dr Harsh Vardhan gave this statement after talking with other organizations including the Department of Biotechnology. He said that our scientists, biotechnology experts have also started work on making corona medicines. Apart from this, studies on genetic sequencing have also started. He said that we will be able to make RT-PCR, testing kit in India by the month of May. All the process has been completed, production will start only after getting permission from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). By May 31, there will be one lakh tests daily in the country.

Testing is very necessary to identify coronavirus. Currently, between 40 to 50 thousand tests are being conducted in India every day, its capacity is also being increased continuously. Till Tuesday morning, more than 7 lakh coronavirus tests have been done in the country.
