Bengaluru: Karnataka CM B.S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday urged the central government to provide assistance of Rs 3,000 crore for relief operations in 14 flood affected districts of the province in the north-west and coastal areas, which have been badly affected by heavy monsoon rains and storms since August 1.  "I have asked for central assistance of Rs 3,000 crore for relief operations," Yeddyurappa said.

He further said that "heavy monsoon rains and floods in 14 districts of the state in the north-west, central and coastal areas have claimed 24 lives and damaged 14,000 houses in the past 10 days." Rs 100 crore is released in 3 days. After reviewing the situation in the affected districts, CM Yeddyurappa said that 24 people have died due to floods and landslides, while 2,35,105 people have been evacuated and evacuated to safer places.

"A shelter in 624 relief camps in the affected areas is being provided with drinking water, food, medicines, clothes, blankets and other facilities and their damaged houses are being repaired," CM Yeddyurappa told xinhua. The flood situation is very serious due to rain.
