Pali: The Pali district of Rajasthan has been hit by a drought every time due to the inclement of rains, but this time the situation is totally different. While the Jawai Dam has shown its bottom, government wells have also succumbed to injuries. The situation in the villages has become very miserable as water is being supplied in 96 hours in the city. Water does not come from 7 days to months. Women are forced to fetch one matki water from four to four km away.

The water mafia is taking 1,000 to 2,000 a tanker of water. The worst scenario is that of animals. Cattle are dying without water but the administration seems to be crippled. The social workers are definitely making water for the cattle at their level, but that too is equal to the cumin in the mouth of the camel.

There is not a single sub-division of Pali district which is not facing the problem of drinking water, but if one of the sub-divisions in the district is craving for water, it is the Roht sub-division. The Rohat sub-division area has been suffering from drinking water problem for a long time. The situation got worse last time when the monsoon failed to water the water in Jawai.
