New Delhi: After a six-year hiatus, Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana will preside over the 39th Conference of Chief Justices of High Courts, which will take place on Friday.

The main points to be discussed include prioritising network and connectivity at court complexes across India, human resources and personnel policy needs at district courts, better infrastructure and capacity-building, legal and institutional reforms, and the selection of High Court justices.

The conference will also discuss the creation of a national judicial infrastructure authority and state judicial infrastructure authorities as special purpose vehicles for the development of district court infrastructure at the federal and state levels.

The participants of discussion will also include Justices U.U. Lalit and A.M. Khanwilkar, the Supreme Court's most senior judges after the Chief Justice.

The court has been hosting a meeting of Chief Justices of High Courts with the goal of deliberating on judicial matters. Institutional and legal reforms, and the appointment of High Court Judges, will be discussed at the conference.

The conference will cover topics such as district court IT infrastructure development, a permanent cadre of computer officials for district court IT needs, electronic transmission of orders and judgments to all stakeholders, and the use of artificial intelligence technology in judicial matters for quick resolution, among others.
