Amid the Corona crisis, the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court said on Monday that the Maharashtra government should not make any such general-superficial and unsubstantiated statement that the distribution of newspapers increases the risk of infection of the coronavirus. According to the court, it is not right to make such statements without the comment of health experts. The bench of Justice PB Varale is hearing the Maharashtra government's order to stop distributing the house-to-house newspaper in view of Corona with automatic cognizance.

Excise Department will do this after the lockdown

The Maharashtra government had recently issued an order prohibiting the delivery of newspapers from door to door. However, after all-round protests, he amended the order and allowed him to carry door-to-door newspapers in places other than Mumbai-Pune and Corona affected areas. In this regard, on Monday, State Government advocate DR Kale told the court in an affidavit that the coronavirus can persist on any surface for a long time. Since the newspaper passes through many hands, there is a possibility of spreading the infection.

Justice Varale said that the court is unable to understand the arguments given in the affidavit. It seems that the affidavit has said superficial things. There is no solid basis for these things. There is neither opinion nor comment of any expert or expert in the health sector. On the contrary, the statements of experts published in the newspapers clearly show that there is no need to create a perception of spreading the infection from the newspapers. Justice Varale said that the spread of newspapers during lockdown has increased because people are getting the latest and detailed information about the news through them.
