New Delhi: The apex court has rejected the petition filed against the removal of English from the official language of the court in Haryana. Advocate Sameer Jain, appearing for this petition, had argued in the court that the verdict would be adverse for those who migrate from other parts of the country to Haryana and do not know Hindi. The apex court has asked to take up the case before the Punjab-Haryana High Court.
During the hearing, Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde said that the language of the subordinate courts has always been supernatural, even if we go back to the British Raj. The language of the Madhya Pradesh High Court is Hindi and English. The bulk of the bar is familiar with English. You should put this matter before the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The petition was filed by lawyers Sameer Jain, Sandeep Bajaj, Angad Sandhu, Suvigna Awasthi and Anant Gupta. The petition has opposed the amendment made in Section 3A of the Haryana Official Language Act. Through this amendment, Hindi will be the only official language in the courts of Haryana.
It was said in the petition that English is spoken everywhere in our country. Removal of the English language from the subordinate court will have serious consequences. It has been said in the petition that this amendment violated sections 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution. With this, an attempt has been made to create a gap between Hindi and non-Hindi speaking lawyers.
