NEW DELHI: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the importance of promoting and using Hindi to foster a sense of unity and effective communication among the diverse population of India. Speaking at a gathering of the 'Hindi Salahkar Samiti' in New Delhi, Mandaviya highlighted the role of Hindi in shaping the nation's character and called for its widespread acceptance.

Acknowledging the significance of regional languages, Mandaviya stressed the need to uphold Hindi as the national language while respecting and utilizing the linguistic diversity of India. He expressed that Hindi serves as a powerful medium of expression, connecting people from different regions and fostering a sense of oneness. The event was graced by the presence of Union Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare, S P Singh Baghel, and Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar.

The 'Hindi Salahkar Samiti' is an integral committee in each ministry of the central government, responsible for promoting the use of Hindi in official work. It convenes at least two meetings annually to discuss language-related matters.

Mandaviya also highlighted the ministry's efforts in advancing the use of Hindi in official work. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's dedication to fulfilling its responsibilities outlined by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. Recognizing Hindi as a symbol of national and cultural unity, Mandaviya emphasized its role in embodying the collective nationalism of the country.

Speaking at the event, MoS Pawar described Hindi as a language that is both mellifluous and accessible. She encouraged its promotion not only due to its connection to tradition and heritage but also for fostering effective communication with the people.

MoS Baghel urged the progressive integration of Hindi into official work and emphasized the importance of raising awareness and promoting its use among officials. He proposed that medicines in all branches of healthcare, including allopathy, homeopathy, and ayurveda, be named in Hindi, particularly in regions where Hindi is widely spoken. Baghel also suggested encouraging doctors to prescribe medicines in Hindi, which would benefit the public and further promote the use of the language. He emphasized the need to enhance the use of Hindi in official capacities, instilling a sense of pride among the people and countering the notion that only English is a modern language. Other participants at the meeting proposed organizing similar gatherings across India to encourage people to speak Hindi with pride.
