New Delhi: Another player from the Indian men's hockey team has announced his retirement from the sport. In the last two days, the third player has announced his retirement from hockey. SV Sunil has announced his retirement from hockey on Friday. Announcing his retirement on Twitter, Sunil wrote, 'My body says I can still do it, my heart says go ahead now. But my mind says it's time to take a break.'

He wrote that 14 years ago I wore an Indian jersey. After so long I've decided to leave it. I will not be present for the Poita camp starting next week. Sunil, who was a member of the Indian team that won a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games, has announced his retirement two days after the retirement of Rupinder Singh and Birendra Lakda. Both Rupinder Singh and Birendra Lakda was part of India's bronze medal-winning team in the Tokyo Olympics.

On Lakda's announcement, Hockey India tweeted from its official Twitter handle, "A great defender and a strong member of the India men's hockey team, the Odisha star has decided to retire from the Indian national team. Happy Retirement Birendra Lakda.''
