Possibility of increase in DA
Last year, DA was increased by 4% in October 2023. After this DA increased from 42% to 46%. Now once again there is a possibility of a 4% increase in DA.
Government's decision
The government decides to increase DA on the basis of all India CPI-IW data. According to reports, the 12-month average of CPI-IW for Industrial Workers stood at 392.83. According to this, DA is coming to 50.26% of the basic salary.
How much will be the increase in the salaries of employees?
After the increase in DA, the salary of the employees will also increase. If the basic pay of an employee is Rs 18,000, then his DA at the rate of 46% is Rs 8,280. When DA is 50%, it will increase to Rs 9,000. That means his salary will increase by Rs 720.
Based on maximum basic pay
An employee drawing maximum basic pay of Rs 56,900 gets DA of Rs 26,174 at the rate of 46%. If DA is 50%, it will increase to Rs 28,450. That means the salary will increase by Rs 2,276.
Employees and pensioners will benefit
The increase in DA will benefit central government employees as well as pensioners. Pensioners get dearness relief (DR), which is equal to DA.
Awaiting government announcement
However, till now no official announcement has been made by the government regarding the increase in DA. It is expected that the government may make an announcement in this regard in March 2024.
