New Delhi: The Government House that is about to be allotted to Home minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah in the Modi government was earlier the residence of former PM Atal Bihari Bajpai. Vajpayee stayed in the 6-a Krishna Menon marg in central Delhi from 2004 till he passed away last year. That will be Amit Shah's new address now.

New Home Minister Amit Shah will be here under the security of Special Protection Group (SPG). A source has informed that, "former PM Vajpayee's residence at Krishna Menon Marg has been allotted to the government Bungalow Home Minister Amit Shah. "After the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections for the year 2004, Vajpayee had come to live in this bungalow at Krishna Menon Marg and he was here for about 14 years with his family.
Earlier, as Rajya Sabha member Amit Shah was allotted a residence at 11, Akbar Road. The security of Shah is considered the most important after PM Modi among the veteran party leaders.
