Home Ministry eyes on Srinagar mosques, sought reports from officials

SRINAGAR: After the decision to deploy additional security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, all the mosques in Srinagar are now on the home ministry's radar. A letter has been issued to all the Superintendents of Police of Srinagar on behalf of the SSP at the letter head of the district police headquarters in Srinagar.

In a letter issued by the SSP, it said that all mosques within its jurisdiction should be provided with appropriate information as soon as possible so that it can be sent to the higher level. Notably, the Modi government has decided to deploy additional security forces in the state to check terror activities. It has been decided to send 10,000 additional security forces to the National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on his return from his jammu and Kashmir tour.

Some  Jawans are said to have reached Kashmir. An order issued by the Union Home Ministry said that the deployment of additional central forces will strengthen the efforts to dismantle the terror network in Kashmir. This will also help maintain the law and order in the province. By August 15, 15 companies will be deployed in Srinagar, 10 in Pulwama and 10 in Sopore, 5 in the remaining 10 districts.
