New Delhi: The process of bringing Ramanjit Singh Romi, the mastermind of Punjab's Nabha jailbreak case, from Hong Kong to India has started. The Hong Kong court has ruled in favor of Romi's extradition. With the coordinated efforts of the Punjab Police and the Government of India, a court in Hong Kong has ruled the extradition of the main conspirator in Nabha jailbreak.

Ramanjeet Singh Romi is also accused of many other serious crimes. Ramanjeet Singh Romi is also involved in the illegal drug trade. He was arrested in Kotwali Nabha in June 2016, and fake credit cards and weapons were found from him. In February 2018, Romi was arrested from Hong Kong in a surprising case of prisoners escaping from Punjab's Nabha jail in 2016. At that time, it was told that Romi has been arrested in Hong Kong in connection with a robbery. The police officer had said that the Punjab Police has put the matter before the Ministry of External Affairs to initiate action for his extradition.

Romi was earlier arrested in 2016. However, he was later released on bail. At the same time, he fled to Hong Kong. After the disappearance of Romi, a red corner notice was issued against him. It is suspected that he had a hand in the targeted killings in Jalandhar and Ludhiana in 2016-17.
