"I try to run the Lok Sabha like a mother," says Sumitra Mahajan

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said on Friday that she tries to run the Lok Sabha house with motherhood. While addressing the members of the committee in a program here on the birth anniversary of Lakshmi Bai Kelkar, the founder of the National Sevak Sangh (RSS), the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Lakshmi Bai Kelkar said that as the mother scolds her children in a closed room instead of public, she does the same. There is a need to maintain a better balance in their work.

She said, " When I sit in the chair, I think that all parties have their own politics. They have their own problems and their leaders instruct MPs to do something for it. I always try to understand them." Sumitra Mahajan said, "My efforts have always been to run the House smoothly. If they do not understand even then, then I postpone the House, call them in their cabin and explain them. I can also give advice to them. It reflects my motherhood. I do not show my anger. It is also an example of a balance in society."

Her comment has come at a time when the monsoon session of Parliament is going to start on July 18. It will have around 18 meetings. Without a name, Mahajan attacked Congress President Rahul Gandhi and said that many leaders do not have any information about the committee and they have a wrong view.

She said, "I am the minister of this committee. But, I am the Speaker of Lok Sabha, so I can not say anything on any public forum. I know that Lakshmibai Kelkar had founded the Nation Service Committee by taking inspiration from the Sangh."
