Chandigarh: Abhimanyu Singh, an IAS officer who previously served as the personal secretary to former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The appointment was made official on Friday through an order issued by the Governor of Haryana.

The order stated, "Abhimanyu S/o Sh. Amir Singh is hereby appointed as Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister, Haryana with effect from the date he assumes charge as such, with the same terms and conditions issued vide order No. 2/4/2014-IEL, dated 10th August 2020." It further mentioned that revised terms and conditions would be issued later with the concurrence/approval of the Finance Department.

Chief Minister Saini, who won the floor test during a special session of the state assembly on Wednesday, was sworn in on the same day at a ceremony held in Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.

Additionally, four BJP leaders—Kanwar Pal Gujjar, Jai Parkash Dalal, Moolchand Sharma, and Banwari Lal—were sworn in as ministers in the Haryana cabinet. Furthermore, independent MLA Ranjit Singh also took the oath administered by Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.

Following the dissolution of the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), and the subsequent resignation of CM Khattar, speculation arose regarding the reasons behind the split. Khattar hinted that the disagreement over Lok Sabha polls seat allocation could have been a contributing factor.

Nayab Saini, an influential figure within the Other Backward Classes community, currently serves as the BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Kurukshetra. He assumed the role of the party's state leader in October last year and enjoys a close relationship with outgoing CM Khattar.
